Governor of Telangana Jishnu Dev Varma held an interactive session on October 23 with the nine newly appointed Vice-Chancellors of various universities across the State. The meeting, which took place at Raj Bhavan, also included the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE).
During the session, Governor Dev Varma referred to the Vice-Chancellors as the “captains of the ship,” emphasizing their pivotal role in steering the future of higher education in Telangana. He directed on them to meet the expectations of the government and ensure that their universities focus on providing quality education and fostering innovative research. The Governor extended his best wishes as they take on these new responsibilities.
The Governor further announced that moving forward, there will be quarterly interactions with the Vice-Chancellors to assess the academic progress and achievements of their respective universities. This initiative is aimed at promoting continuous improvement and ensuring accountability in the higher education sector.
The meeting was also attended by Burra Venkatesham, Principal Secretary to Governor, J Bhavani Shankar, Joint Secretary to Governor, and other senior officials from Raj Bhavan.
