Minister for Revenue Dharmana Prasada Rao has said that the government machinery is striving hard for the development of the district and also for the implementation of the welfare schemes efficiently.
The Minister Hoisted the tricolor flag in the police parade grounds here on Tuesday on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day. He recalled that the Guntur district played a significant role in the freedom struggle as agitations were held against the Symon commission in Guntur, Tenali and non-cooperation struggle was held at Pedanandipadu.
It is the responsibility of all to remember the freedom fighters on the occasion of Independence Day, he observed. “India has achieved Independence because of the sacrifices of many leaders. I pay rich tributes to them,” he said.
The minister highlighted the welfare schemes being implemented by the government and benefits being received by eligible people during the last four years. Various departments including the welfare, animal husbandry, water resources, house and women and welfare disaster management showcased their achievements through Tableaus.
The minister gave away allotment letters of micro irrigation equipment including sprinklers worth Rs 5.74 lakh to 10 beneficiaries on the occasion.
Students performed cultural patriotic programmes. District Collector M Venugopal Reddy, District SP Arif Hafeez, Joint Collector G Rajakumari and Tenali Sub Collector Gitanjali Sharma inspected the stalls set up on the development and welfare programmes being implemented in the government departments of the district.
