Govt committed to provide jobs, education to ST youths: Minister

Minister for Water Resources Development Nimmala Ramanaidu has reiterated that the government is committed to provide employment and education to the youths belonging to Scheduled Tribes.
The Minister participated in the ‘Ekalavya Jayanthi’ programme organized in Palcole on Wednesday. He garlanded the statue of Ekalavya and paid tributes.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ramanai said that he personally loves Ekalavya who excelled in archery without a guru. The Minister recalled that Ekalavya gave his thumb as ‘guru dakshina’ to Dronacharya which indicates his sincerity and honesty.
The Minister exhorted the youths to draw inspiration from Ekalavya to reach heights. He recalled that every year the ‘Ekalavya Jayanthi’ is held in Palcole grandly for which a large number of tribal people from nearby taandas and villages attend.
Launching a scathing attack against the previous YSRCP led government, Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu claimed that the funds, meant for the ST welfare, were diverted to other purposes.
During the five years of the previous regime, they
did not do much for the uplift of STs, the Minister criticized.
The Minister assured of allocating adequate funds for the ST Corporation to spend for their uplift and for their welfare.
“The Chandrababu Naidu headed government has taken all steps to provide education and employment to the tribal youths. The tribal youths should utilize the opportunities being provided by the government. Steps will be taken to provide needed help to those who are in caste-based professions,” the Minister said.
Lashing out the
YSRCP led previous government for putting the state in debt-trap, the Minister acknowledged that the
Chief Minister is making all efforts to bring out the state from the debt-trap with the help of the Central government.
MLC Angara Ram Mohan, ST Cell secretary J Vengalaiah, TDP, BJP and Jana Sena leaders were among those who took part in the programme.
