Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has reaffirmed that the TDP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is firmly committed to the principles of welfare, development, and good governance, with a clear focus on improving the living standards of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing the members on the eighth day of the Assembly sessions on Wednesday, the CM stressed that the State government is dedicated to implementing “Super Six” schemes outlined in the election manifesto, aimed at fulfilling promises made to the people.
He highlighted that the foundation for welfare in the State was laid by TDP founder NT Rama Rao, whose iconic slogans of providing food, clothing, and shelter for all continue to shape the party’s vision. He recalled the introduction of the Rs 2/kg rice scheme by NTR, which has now been adopted nationwide.
Speaking on the completion of 162 days in office under the TDP-led NDA government, CM Chandrababu referred to the recent elections as a historical moment, describing the people’s verdict as a “revolution”.
He drew a parallel to the impact of the 1983 TDP tsunami, when the party was founded by NTR, and expressed gratitude for the trust the people have placed in the NDA government.
Reflecting on his long political journey, Chandrababu spoke about his 40-year career, having first been elected as an MLA in 1978. He recalled the personal and political challenges he had overcome, including the infamous 2003 attack where he survived 24 claymore mine explosions. “I owe my rebirth to Lord Venkateswara,” he said, and expressed regret over the humiliation his family endured in the past. Chandrababu also noted that he was unjustly sent to jail under false charges, but reaffirmed his commitment to always work for the welfare of the people.
While acknowledging his experience in holding the Chief Minister’s office and his tenure as Leader of the Opposition, he stressed that the people, rather than political parties, had empowered him to lead the State. “People asked me if I could bring the state back on track when I assumed office. My answer was always confident: I am here to work for the people,” he said, adding that rebuilding the State would take time, but the government is progressing steadily with the task.
The CM also spoke about the State’s financial situation, citing evidence that Andhra Pradesh is currently burdened with a debt of over Rs 10 lakh crore. Despite this, he said that his government is focused on bringing essential services closer to the people. “We are implementing a system where over 150 services will soon be available via WhatsApp, including grain procurement for farmers,” he said.
In addition to welfare schemes such as Deepam-2, which has already facilitated the booking of 42.4 lakh gas cylinders, Chandrababu assured the Assembly that safe drinking water would be provided under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
He also outlined the NDA government’s “job first” policy, with efforts underway to fill 16,347 vacant teaching posts and plans to create more employment opportunities through incentives for job creators.
The CM reiterated that law and order would be a top priority for his administration, stressing a strong stance against crimes like molestation and drug abuse. “We will hold a rally this month against drugs, and we will strengthen the police force to ensure security,” he said.
On the issue of land reforms, Chandrababu revealed that the Land Titling Act had been revoked, and the Anti-Land Grabbing Act introduced to protect the rights of landowners. He also announced plans to establish a “Drone City” at Orvakallu, where training in drone manufacturing would create a model for the nation.
