Govt hikes allowances for employees, pensioners

The Telangana government has hiked allowances and benefits for state government employees and pensioners in connection with Telangana State Decennial Celebrations. Employees will now get more increments, says the government notification.

The government has also raised the upper limits of advances available to employees. The Marriage Advance for female children has seen a significant increase from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 4 lakh, and for male children, it has been raised from Rs 75,000 to Rs 3 lakh.

The Housing Building Advance limit has been increased from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh, while the Car Advance limit has been raised from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh. Similarly, the Motor Cycle Advance limit has been enhanced from Rs 80,000 to Rs 1 lakh.

Travelling and conveyance allowance has been increased by 30%, while employees who are transferred will now receive an enhanced transport allowance of 30%. Additionally, drivers and lift operators on holiday duty will be paid Rs 150.

A hike of 30% has been granted to incentivise employees working in all State Training Institutions. The special pay for personnel working in wings like Grey Hounds, Intelligence, Traffic, CID, OCTOPUS and the anti-Naxalite squad will continue to be based on the revised pay scales of 2020.

The Special Compensatory Allowance for employees working in Scheduled Areas has been increased by 30%. The conveyance allowance for the blind, the hearing-impaired and the physically handicapped have been raised from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000. Pensioners will also benefit from the hike. The death relief provided to pensioners has been raised from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. Pension disbursing officers have to arrange payment to the nominee on the next working day immediately after the date of death. A 15% special pay has been sanctioned for all categories of employees working in the Protocol Department.

Many Government Orders (GOs) have been issued like GO No: 65 on pension revision for employees, GO No: 59 for implementation of revised pay scales and GO No: 53 for travelling allowance to ensure effective implementation.
