Govt hikes honorarium for priests to Rs 10,000

The honorary pay of Hindu priests has been increased to Rs 10,000. The Minister of Endowments, Indrakaran Reddy, expressed his gratitude to KCR for issuing orders to increase the honorarium of priests from Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000 under the Dhoopa Deepa Naivedya scheme.

As per earlier rules, the priests were getting only Rs 2,500 under the Dhoopa Deepa Naivedya scheme.

The CM, realising that the priests were facing difficulties said that the honorarium of Rs 2,500 has been increased to Rs 6,000. The CM announced that the salary of Dhupa Deepa Naivedya priests will be increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000.

Earlier, the Dhupa Deepa Naivedya scheme was implemented only in 1,805 temples. Now is being implemented in more temples in a phase-wise manner. It has been revealed that at present the government is implementing the Dhupa Deepa Naivedya scheme in all the 6,541 temples in the state. He said that Rs 78.49 crore will be spent annually on the Dhupa Deepa Naivedya scheme.
