Govt initiates awareness drive on threat of AMR

In response to the growing global concern surrounding Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), the Government of Andhra Pradesh is taking a proactive stance to raise awareness among the general public about this threat to public health.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken the initiative, the first of its kind in the State, immediately after receiving instructions from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) Government of India and AP is the 4th state across the country implementing AMR on war footing.
Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Vidadala Rajini, Special Chief Secretary MT Krishna Babu, Commissioner of Health & Family Welfare J Nivas, Government of Andhra Pradesh emphasizes the critical role each individual plays in preventing the escalation of Antimicrobial Resistance. It is imperative that we act collectively to preserve the effectiveness of these life-saving medications. By making informed choices in our daily lives, we can contribute to a healthier future for all.
Andhra Pradesh Health Medical and Family Welfare Department is committed to educating the public about responsible antibiotic use and the importance of completing prescribed courses to prevent the development of resistance. Additionally, the AMR and One Health Nodal officers are nominated from all the departments and are advocating for improved regulations and practices in the healthcare, veterinary, pollution control (environment), fisheries, and aquaculture sectors to curb the misuse of antimicrobial agents. In view of world AMR week from Nov18 to Nov24th celebrating every year DMHOs are instructed to wear Blue Dress to all the health teams and perform rallies to show solidarity and attention for which WHO gave a message.
