In a historic milestone, the Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet conducted its 25th e-Cabinet meeting in a completely paperless format under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The Cabinet applauded the Chief Minister’s vision and commitment to digital governance, completing 25 e-Cabinet meetings within a year of the government’s tenure.
A series of key decisions were taken across departments aimed at promoting inclusive growth, improving governance and accelerating development across various sectors.
Safe drinking water projects in Srikakulam, Chittoor
The Cabinet approved a one-time settlement of 575.75 lakh under the NTR Sujala Pathakam for installing RO plants in the Uddanam and tribal areas of Srikakulam District. Additionally,822.86 lakh was sanctioned for 15 water treatment plants in Kuppam constituency to benefit 533 water-scarce habitations across four mandals in Chittoor district. Together, these projects will ensure clean drinking water access to over 5.27 lakh people.
Home Dept reforms and promotions
Seventeen life-convict prisoners will be granted special remission as per Supreme Court guidelines, paving the way for their rehabilitation. Additionally, 248 constables in APSPF will be promoted to head constables.
District renaming and land allocation
The Cabinet ratified the notification to rename YSR district as YSR Kadapa district. It also approved the transfer of 94.497 acres of government land in Eluru district for establishing the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy. Another 10.88 acres of land donated by former IAS officer Kasaraneni Damayanthi to the Hyderabad Eye Institute will be exempt from stamp duty and registration fees.
Labour reforms and industrial compliance
The Cabinet approved two crucial amendments to the Factories Act, 1948 and AP Shops and Establishments Act, 1988. These reforms are aimed at reducing procedural burdens on industrial establishments and encouraging ease of doing business.
Tourism infrastructure and quantum mission
The Cabinet ratified revised administrative sanctions for modernisation of Haritha Hotel Yatrinivas in Visakhapatnam. It also gave a green signal to establish the Andhra Pradesh State Quantum Mission (SQM) under the National Quantum Mission. With a 50-acre land allocation in Amaravati, partnerships with IIT Madras, TCS, IBM and L&T are expected to accelerate research in quantum computing, AI and cybersecurity.
A Quantum Summit is scheduled in June to finalise strategic plans.
Yoga world record initiative
As part of YogAndhra -2025 and International Yoga Day on June 21, AP will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record. PM Narendra Modi will attend the main event in Visakhapatnam. Nearly two crore people are expected to participate across the State, with plans to accommodate up to five lakh people along the coastline from Bheemili to Srikakulam.
Industrial development and MSME expansion
The Cabinet cleared proposals for the completion of the Flatted Factory Complex at JetCity in NTR district, with APEDCO handling initial works and APIIC taking over the final phase. Land will be transferred with stamp duty exemptions. Besides, the Cabinet approved the establishment of 175 MSME parks, one in each Assembly constituency, under the “One Family-One Entrepreneur” initiative, aimed at promoting grassroots entrepreneurship and self-employment.
