Vijayawada: Home and Disaster Management Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has directed the administrative machinery to remain vigilant and implement preventive measures to protect lives and property. Following the Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast of heavy rainfall across Andhra Pradesh over the next two days, the state government has declared a high alert. On Tuesday, Minister Anitha held a review meeting at the Secretariat with Disaster Management Department MD Ronanki Kurmanath. She urged officials to maintain round-the-clock vigilance, especially in low-lying areas, to minimise hardship for residents. Particular focus was placed on the rising Tungabhadra and Vedavati rivers in Kurnool district, where early warnings and evacuations might become necessary.
