Senior BRS MLA T. Harish Rao said the Congress Government is paying the bills of big contractors amounting to thousands of crores, but it does not reimburse students’ fees. The carelessness of the Congress Government has become a curse on students, he added.

Posting regarding this on X on Sunday, he said that the future of six lakh students is in doubt due to the non-payment of fee reimbursement dues of nearly Rs 800 crore to degree colleges.

“Students are now begging the government to hold degree exams, which is a testament to the government’s failure. Third-year students are losing eligibility to write PGCET, LAWCET and other tests as university exams are not held on time, he said.

Harish said that the fact that degree exams scheduled for April have not been conducted in the Kakatiya, Satavahana, Telangana, Mahatma Gandhi and Palamuru universities is due to the government’s fault.

Meanwhile, private college owners are protesting against not conducting degree exams, but the government is acting dumb. The college managements are mired in debt as the government does not reimburse fees. Now, college managements are paying salaries to their staff by taking loans, he said.

Harish said that degree admissions have been halted this year due to increasing rents and debts, while colleges have been closed in some places, and holidays have been declared. It is shameful that the CM and his ministers are acting as if nothing has happened. KCR implemented the scheme started by the late YSR without any changes, keeping in mind the future of students. Even during the Corona pandemic, fee reimbursement was not stopped, he said.
