Government Chief Whip Dasyam Vinaybhaskar has said that Minister for Municipal Administration KT Rama Rao has sanctioned Rs 250 crore as an immediate relief to Warangal town for undertaking repairs to nalas, roads and drainages to rebuild the city and thanked the minister on behalf of the municipal corporation.
After assessing the rain damage to the city, the authorities submitted proposals seeking funds to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore. In fact, on a single day the city experienced 275 mm of rain, which is the average rainfall of the region.
Addressing media at the KUDA office at Hanamkonda on Sunday, Vinay Bhaskar expressed concern over some political outfits politicising the flood situation instead of extending support to the people and consoling them. The leaders of the Opposition parties have been trying to create misgivings among the people and also not hesitating to subjecting the people to fear psychosis through their social media posts. He condemned their behaviour.
The unseasonal rains and also the climactic changes have affected the people of the town of late. In 2020, incessant rains flooded the low-lying areas and severed roads, drainages and nalas. Then also, KTR sanctioned Rs 20 crore immediately and later Rs 100 crores for development of the city.
This year, the incessant rains flooded areas like Sammaiah Nagar, Ram Nagar, and Jawahar Nagar and so on. The people experienced problems due to heavy floods, he said thanking the municipal officials, fire department officials, revenue officials for their gesture.
He said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Municipal Minister KTR constantly monitored the flood situation.
The bund of the Bhadrakali tank breached and flooded the low-lying areas of the city, he said the opposition party trying to make an issue out of this.
Because of the continued neglect of the city development by the successive governments that ruled the united AP during the past 60-70 years, the political leaders have encroached upon the nalas and roads, he alleged.
However the BRS regime issued orders for removing the encroachment of the nalas, he said.
The BRS leaders and elected people’s representatives working round the clock to support the people, he said, alleging that the ruling party at the Centre the BJP subjected the people to anxiety by making the floods in the city a propaganda issue.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy visited the flood hit areas in the city but failed to get at least Re 1 from the Centre towards the grant.
The Congress is not in power in the state or at the Centre and there is no possibility of Congress coming to power in the state or at the Centre in future, he said.
He demanded the local BJP people to say what they have done to develop the city by bringing funds from the Centre. Instead of sympathising with the flood-hit people they created fear psychosis among them, he said calling it painful.
He appealed to the people of the city to shun using the plastic covers to protect the environment and lend their support to ban use of the plastic covers in the city.
Tenders have been finalised for execution of the reconstruction works in the city, he said.
Warangal East MLA Nannapaneni Narender breathed fire on the BJP leaders and the BJP government at the Centre for their meaningless statements.
He hailed KTR for development of the state and also the Warangal city. The government has been sanctioning various finds of funds for development of the city, he said.
