The Telangana Government has sanctioned Rs. 4,000 crore for constructing Young India Integrated Residential School (YIIRS) complexes in 20 Assembly constituencies. Each school will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore.
The orders were issued by the School Education Department through G.O. Rt. No. 96 dated May 27, following a proposal from the Managing Director of the Telangana Education & Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation (TGEWIDC). The government said that this initiative is aimed at building world-class residential educational campuses to cater to the aspirations of rural and marginalised students.
The selected locations are a mix of rural, urban, and tribal constituencies like Alair, Aswaraopeta, Banswada, Bhadrachalam, Bhongir, Devarakonda, Ibrahimpatnam, Khanapur, Mahabubabad, Mahabubnagar, Miryalaguda, Palakurthi, Parigi, Patancheru, Rajendranagar, Serilingampally, Vemulawada, Wardhannapet, Warangal West, and Yellareddy.
This is among the largest investments in education infrastructure in the state’s history and reflects the government’s intention to establish a parallel high-quality public education system. The funds will be routed through TGEWIDC.
School Education Secretary Dr Yogita Rana signed on the order, with concurrence from the Finance (EBS.IV) Department. The order has been circulated to relevant stakeholders, including the Telangana Residential Educational Institutions Society and district authorities, to begin groundwork.
Each YIIRS complex is expected to be fully equipped with academic blocks, hostels, digital labs, sports infrastructure, dining facilities, and healthcare support, making it a model for integrated residential schooling.
