In a first-of-its-kind act, the AP Government Employees Association (APGEA) leaders met AP Governor Biswabusan Harichandan at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday and submitted a memorandum stating that the State government had failed to clear the dues of their financial benefits.
Association State president KR Suryanarayana, and general secretary G Askara Rao said that the State government had failed to pay the salaries on the first day of every month, and in addition to this, the government was withdrawing money from GPF accounts of 90,000 employees without their consent.
They alleged that the employees had foregone many benefits in the 11th PRC, but they hoped that the State government would somehow benefit the employees, the present situation is against their expectations.
They stated that the monthly salary is being paid very late, so the employees are unable to withdraw their GPF and APGLI. They say that four DAs are pending after announcing PRC and arrears to the tune of Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 crore and the government is reluctant to pay the same.
Meetings with Finance department officials and ministers were not fruitful and from April the APGEA employees would intensify their agitation against the government to resolve the pending issues, they said.
They said that the government should realise the financial problems of contract, outsourcing, and regular employees and pay salaries on the 1st of every month by enacting a law. They further said that under financial code 72 the state government should disburse payments to employees, pensioners, and other clearances on a priority basis, failing which they will be left with no option other than protest, said the association leaders.
