Govt to hold opinion poll

Must read

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that the State government will conduct a public opinion poll to gather feedback on the various schemes, programmes, and decisions being implemented. The aim is to improve service delivery based on the opinions of the public. To this end, the government will use the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) to gather insights on the effectiveness and execution of the schemes.
In a statement released on Sunday, the CM explained that as part of this initiative, computer-based phone calls will be made to beneficiaries, seeking their feedback on the benefits, implementation, and quality of services under the respective schemes. Beneficiaries will receive IVRS calls asking for their ratings and opinions, which will help the government make any necessary adjustments to improve services. Feedback is already being collected from beneficiaries of programs like doorstep pension delivery and the free gas cylinder distribution under the Deepam scheme. The focus of the questions is on whether pensions are delivered on time and if there are any issues with receiving free gas cylinders.
In addition to welfare schemes, the government will also gather public opinion on newly introduced policies, such as the free sand policy and the revised liquor sales policy. Feedback will also be collected on essential citizen services provided by departments like revenue, municipal, and electricity. If any dissatisfaction is expressed, the reasons will be analysed, and corrective measures will be taken to improve services.
This initiative is aimed at enhancing accountability among government officials and employees while ensuring better service delivery. Chief Minister Naidu emphasised that public opinion would be crucial in shaping governance and urged citizens to actively participate in the feedback process. He stated that spending just a minute or two on these calls could lead to significantly better government services.
The IVRS system has previously yielded positive results, with the party using it during the general elections to finalise candidates. Similarly, during the Vijayawada floods, the government used IVRS calls to assess the effectiveness of relief measures. Building on these successes, the Chief Minister has decided to expand the use of IVRS to monitor and improve government schemes and services.
Chandrababu Naidu appealed to citizens to cooperate in this initiative, stressing that their participation is essential for ensuring good governance and the delivery of quality services.
