As part of the Telangana State Decade celebrations, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, announced that a vibrant Fish Food Festival will be organised next month. The festival, under the auspices of the fisheries department, will be held in a festive atmosphere as directed by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on June 8, 9 and 10.
On Wednesday, a review meeting was held at the Telangana Secretariat, attended by Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, along with officials from the Fisheries Department and Animal Husbandry Department, Special Chief Secretary Adhar Sinha, and Fisheries Department Commissioner Lachiram Bhukya. The focus of the meeting was to discuss the management and arrangements for the upcoming Fish Food Festival, which will honour Mrigasira Karti and be held simultaneously in all district centres.
During the meeting, Pittala Ravinder, newly appointed Chairman of the Fisheries Cooperative Society, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister. Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav felicitated him with a shawl and conveyed his best wishes. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister highlighted that the Chief Minister had ordered a 21-day celebration of the state’s decade-long journey, commencing from June 2. He emphasised the need to identify suitable locations and make elaborate arrangements to ensure a grand Fish Food Festival.
The Minister emphasised that all types of fish-based dishes, including fish fry, curry and biryani should be available at the festival. Furthermore, he directed that women fishermen from all districts should receive free training in various fish-based culinary skills to promote self-employment. The festival will feature 20 to 30 stalls offering different types of fish delicacies, with active participation from women fishermen in each district. He also said that as per the Chief Minister’s instructions, free distribution of fish fry will be carried out.
To enhance the festive experience, the Minister proposed organising cultural activities for three days, providing entertainment for festival-goers. He stressed the importance of excellent arrangements and suggested involving officials from Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Dairy and Gopalamitra to ensure a spectacular state festival.
