Must read

Assuring that more rural women-centric policies and incentives to uplift women will be planned by the government, Seethakka, Minister for Panchayat Raj & Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, and Women and Child Welfare, participated in CII Telangana’s 10th edition of the CII Indian Women Network’s annual Leadership Conclave 2024 at Tech Mahindra on Friday.
Addressing the women at the conclave, Seethakka noted that many come from rural backgrounds and emphasised the important role women play, despite facing suppression from male dominance and feelings of inferiority. She urged them to stand up to their fears, highlighting her rural background experience as a three-time MLA and the first Adivasi Cabinet Minister. Seethakka highlighted the workplace insecurity as a global issue, referring the recent rape and murder of a doctor in her workplace in Kolkata, and stressed that many feel unsafe even at home seeing such incidents. She called for team work to identify such problems and write down to the government for actions through new GOs and Acts to eliminate women insecurities.
She pointed out that towns and cities represent business opportunities, as many women from rural areas migrate, leading to more competition for resources. Explaining that she herself is a daughter of a rural background, she called for decentralised women’s development activities in industries across districts and emphasised the need to research resources in rural areas and suggested plans should be made for factories and businesses within reach for women in rural areas to boost exports.
She said that women’s potential shines in a crisis and encouraged them to face challenges, noting Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s plans for the Young India Skill University, which focuses on skill development and uplift for rural women and other districts in the State.
Seethakka also assured that safety apps like T-Safe, developed by the Telangana Police, will provide support and inputs to the government. She urged women to use the app and encouraged them to share their suggestions with the government.
