The Minister for Social Welfare, Disable & Senior Citizen Welfare and Sachivalayam & Village Volunteer, Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, has announced that his government will be handing over Christmas Kanuka to all Christians in the State soon. The Christmas Kanuka was not implemented in the past five years during the YSRCP government’s tenure. However, the TDP-led NDA Government will reinstate the Christmas Kanuka for the benefit of Christian people, he added.
Minister Swamy attended a programme held at Varalakshmi Nagar in the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) 4th Division on Tuesday. He, along with Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rama Mohana Rao, inaugurated a Community Hall, which was constructed at a cost of Rs.80 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Swamy said that the government will also resume the Dr BR Ambedkar Videsh Vidya Deevena scheme. He stated that the government will construct new Social Welfare Hostels by spending Rs.340 crore. Also, he assured that his government will be handing the SC Corporation loans to the eligible beneficiaries in December and January.
He alleged that the previous YSRCP government neglected the welfare of the SCs and after the NDA government came to power, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu decided to reinstate all welfare schemes. The previous government divided the SC Corporation and neglected the funds allocation. He also assured that his government will provide funds to Lidcap and provide loans.
The earlier TDP government allotted land for the Ambedkar statue in Amaravati, however, the YSRCP government installed the statue at Swarajya Mydanam in Vijayawada. However, many works have not been completed, he said, and added that his government will complete all those works.
Meanwhile, he announced that the Social Welfare Department will see significant reforms in the coming days. The pending dues to students will be cleared as early as possible. He added that quality food will be provided to all students and emphasised the maintenance of sanitation in all social welfare hostels.
VMC Corporators Jasti Sambasiva Rao, Devineni Aparna and others were present.
