On Wednesday, District Collector of Adarsh Surabhi made an unexpected visit to the Agricultural Market Yard near Chityala village under Wanaparthy mandal. He interacted with the marketing officials and sought information from them about the number of farmers bringing a groundnut to the market daily.
The Collector also interacted with the farmers to understand if there were any issues or challenges in the sale of groundnuts. The farmers mentioned that the quality of groundnuts this year was affected due to unfavorable weather conditions. They also expressed concerns that they were not getting a good price for their produce and requested the government to help by providing better prices for their crops. They further mentioned that last year, the groundnuts fetched a good price at the Wanaparthi market, and they hoped for similar prices this year to benefit them.
The Collector, responding to the issues faced by groundnut farmers, stated that they would report to the government on the matter of providing them with a good price. In the event, Wanaparthi Agricultural Market Committee Chairman Srinivas Goud, Marketing Officer Swaran Singh, officials, farmers, and others participated.
