Must read

Drawing attention to the guidelines for direct sellers, which will be rolled out in two weeks, Special Chief Secretary to the IT department, Jayesh Ranjan, highlighted ongoing issues in the direct selling industry, where some are wrongly seen as guilty despite not committing any wrongdoing. He mentioned his 10 years of experience in various sectors and emphasized the need to treat all sectors equally.
Jayesh Ranjan participated was the chief guest in the Telangana Direct Selling Conclave, hosted by the Association of Direct Selling Entities of India (ADSEI), in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Direct Selling Industries (FIDSI) at the Taj Deccan on Friday.
Addressing over 100 plus direct sellers, Jayesh explained that the Centre’s guidelines for direct selling, already implemented in other states, have been delayed here due to certain challenges. He announced that a monitoring committee will be set up, which will oversee the registration process.
He revealed that over half a lakh people in the State lack proper identification and the new guidelines will help address this. Wrongdoings in the sector will also be handled under the new rules. Jayesh said he recommended to DS Chauhan, Principal Secretary of Consumer Affairs, that association members be included in the committee for clear understanding.
Jayesh announced that the government will introduce a new law for gig workers, such as delivery agents from various companies, along with a digital tool to monitor their transactions.
He said that digital registration methods would be upgraded as the upcoming guidelines will simplify registration for women and young people.
He urged direct sellers to report the misuse of multi-level marketing (MLM) for money laundering and promised support in attracting investments to the industry based on suggestions from the association. He highlighted that Hyderabad, located in the centre of the country, has e-commerce hubs with significant investments in logistics.
