An alarming incident unfolded on Wednesday night in Moolapalli village of Komarolu mandal in Prakasam district, as a secretariat staffer brandished a licensed firearm, causing panic among the local residents.
Identified as Palugulla Mohan Reddy, an agriculture assistant at Rajupalem village secretariat, Reddy emerged from his residence past midnight, wielding his licensed gun and menacingly threatening the villagers.
In a commendable act of bravery, the villagers swiftly united, managing to apprehend Reddy, overpower him, and tying him to a nearby pole. Expressing their outrage, they also thrashed him before informing the police and other government authorities.
Acting swiftly, Superintendent of Police (SP) Subba Raju arrived at the scene and ensured Reddy’s safe transfer to the local police station. The police confiscated the firearm from his possession, neutralising the immediate threat.
Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind Reddy’s intimidating behaviour.
