Guv-CM bonhomie due to simultaneous elections?

Anticipating simultaneous elections, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao seems to have softened his stance towards the Governor.

In the case of simultaneous elections, then KCR, after his term is completed, will be interim Chief Minister. Political analysts point out that the government must then take orders from the Governor.

Highly placed sources said that if KCR continued to be on rough terms with the Governor, the going could get difficult if simultaneous elections were held or if elections were delayed. Analysts indicate that anticipating such a stroke from the Centre, KCR might have recalibrated his moves.

Days after releasing the list of 115 candidates, the Chief Minister sorted out issues with the Governor. There was a wide gap between the Raj Bhavan and the Pragathi Bhavan for almost two years until August26, when the Governor and the Chief Minister spoke for some time after the ceremony held for swearingin Patnam Mahender Reddy as a Minister. About 10 days ago, the Governor and the Chief Minister were seen at the inauguration of the newly constructed temple, mosque, and church on the Secretariat premises. KCR took her to the Secretariat and personally showed her around the shrines. He then invited Tamilisai to the Chief Minister’s chambers, where he felicitated the Governor with a shawl and presented a bouquet. Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari also honoured the Governor.
