The Governor, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, may celebrate Telangana Formation Day (June 2) at the Raj Bhavan if she doesn’t get an invitation from the State government and the Central Government, it is learnt. In fact, both governments have not yet invited the Governor for the celebrations.
The state government decided to kick of Formation Day celebrations from the new Secretariat and will conduct celebrations for 21 days and showcase its achievements. The State government has not invited the Governor so far and it is learnt that she may not get an invitation.
Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy may hoist the flag at the Golconda Fort on June 2 while celebrating the Forts and Caves Festival on June 2 and 3. It is not clear whether the Centre will celebrate Telangana Formation Day at the Golconda Fort or not.
It is learnt that the Governor may go to Golconda Fort if the Centre invites her to the Formation Day celebrations there.
However, a State BJP leader said on condition of anonymity that the Centre and the BJP will not mix Telangana Formation Day celebrations with the Forts and Caves festival as it looks awkward.
“We will celebrate Telangana Formation Day in our own way. BJP’s national leaders are coming to the state to attend the Maha Sampark Abhiyan programme on May 30. The party will remember the sacrifices of TS martyrs and will honour all Telangana activists,” he said.
