The Telangana Drug Control Administration (DCA) on Wednesday raided several medical stores across Secunderabad and seized habit-forming drugs.
Drugs including Codeine-containing cough syrups, Nitravet (Nitrazepam) tablets, Restyl (Alprazolam) tablets, Ultracet tablets (Tramadol) and Tydol tablets (Tapentadol), etc were seized.
Following the seizure , the DCA cancelled licences of  20 medical stores. Based on inputs from the Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad, regarding the illegal sale of habit-forming drugs, the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana carried out raids at several medical shops during the first and second weeks of July as part of a special drive.
The indiscriminate sale of several drugs with habit-forming tendencies, primarily classified under Schedule H1 and Schedule X of the drugs rules, was verified during the raids.
Meanwhile, the DCA raided a medical store in Medchal and seized illegally manufactured medicines worth Rs 96 lakh.
The DCA, in coordination with the officials of the Shameerpet zone and the Prohibition and Excise Department, during the raid, seized large stocks of bulk drugs of various categories, including anticancer, antiviral, antifungal, anticoagulants, antidepressants, which were illegally manufactured.
They were found stocked at the godown belonging to Aspen Biopharma Pvt. Ltd.
The godwn belongs to Kadari Sateesh Reddy of Aspen Biopharma, who is the prime accused in the spurious anti-cancer drugs case detected at Machabollaram. He is also the key conspirator in the illicit manufacturing of APIs at Annarugudem village, Tallada mandal, Khammam district.
