The Teja Sajja starrer HanuMan, directed and written by Prasanth Varma, has been making headlines for a variety of reasons. The film competed with Superstar Mahesh Babu and filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas’ film Guntur Kaaram for the Sankranthi release. The film hit cinemas on Friday. So, let’s

examine the superhero action drama in this section.

The story takes place in the made-up town of Anjanadri, where a statue of Lord Hanuman stands sentry over a river. There is a link between Hanumanthu (played by Teja Sajja) and his devoted sister, Anjamma (played by Varalaxmi Sarathkumar). The arrival of Michael (played by Vinay Rai), a pathological antagonist who masquerades as a corporate honcho, upends their tranquil existence. What is his hidden objective for approaching Anjanadri? Is he able to deceive and outwit Hanumanthu? How does Hanumanthu keep Michael from ruining the village and himself? That is the main theme of the narrative.

Teja Sajja is the underdog for Sankranthi going into the race. His portrayal is strengthened by his seeming calm. Hollywood action flicks are the source of inspiration for his character. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar yells occasionally, although not in a demanding environment this time. While Satya makes people chuckle with Amritha Aiyer—the actress is gorgeous.

The production design by Sri Nagendra Tangala has enhanced the visual palette, which has effectively complemented the symbolic divine aspects. The cinematography of Shivendra is traditional but sufficient. The background music by Gowra Hari recognizes the celestial world that the narrative aims to explore. The songs enhance the entire mood of the movie. Editing by Saibabu Talari is excellent.

HanuMan has been billed as the inaugural PVCU (Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe) since its inception. But what sounds better is this description: Telugu cinema’s first homegrown superhero movie! Occasionally, thoughts of reverence and awe are aroused. Certain fantastical parts have been purposefully kept back in preparation of the second chapter. The hero’s characteristics remains unchanged despite gaining superhuman abilities due to an unexpected turn of circumstances. He appears to be having fun in several sequences even in the second half.
