Harish cautions officials against laxity

Minister for Finance T Harish Rao on Saturday cautioned the officials against laxity in procuring Yasangi paddy. He told the officials that it is necessary to come to the rescue of the farmers who lost their crops due to unseasonal rains.

Reviewing the progress in the paddy procurement from the United States through teleconference, the Minister stressed the need to stand by the farmers to instil confidence in them. He expressed concern over the crop loss due to unseasonal rains.

“The officials and people’s representatives must stand by the farmers and instil confidence in them,” he pointed out. In all, 2,300 officials and people’s representatives were present at the teleconference. Lok Sabha member Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, MLAs Satish, Muthireddy and Muthireddy Yadi Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Roja Sharma, District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil, Additional Collectors Muzammil Khan and Srinivas Reddy, Mandal Praja Parishad members, Zilla Parishad Territorial constituency members and others were present. 

There are in all 415 procurement centres in the district and a total of 32,508 tonnes of paddy was procured so far from 7,304 farmers. He expressed conference over the delay in “tab entry” in the procurement process. While the paddy worth Rs 67 crore was procured through various centres, tap entry showed that paddy worth Rs 45 crore was so far purchased, he pointed out. He directed the officials to ensure that tab entry is made on a daily basis. The Minister also directed the officials to seek the cooperation of the millers in generating trip sheets.
