Harish gives appointment letters to 1,560 ASHA workers

The Minister of Finance and Health, Harish Rao handed over appointment letters to 1,560 ASHA workers in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal districts coming under the GHMC. Ministers Mohammed Ali, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Mallareddy, MLA Arikepudi Gandhi, Health Department officials and ASHA workers attended the function held at Shilpalkala Vedika.

Harish who was the chief guest emphasised the importance of ensuring the welfare of the underprivileged and acknowledged the remarkable contributions made by doctors and staff who are regarded as ‘Gods’ by patients.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to provide the best possible medical services to the poor.

He proudly announced Telangana’s achievements in healthcare and highlighted the fact that in Telangana all children are vaccinated. The state has also achieved 100% institutional deliveries enhancing the safety of women and children.

After the formation of the state, Telangana has made significant strides in providing medical care, rising from rank 14 to the third rank.In the past, 70% of deliveries were in private hospitals, but now 70% of deliveries take place in government hospitals.

emphasized the government’s commitment through nutrition kits, reflecting its dedication to nutrition-based policies.

He expressed appreciation for the positive steps taken by the government and stressed the importance of informing people about the government’s good work.

He highlighted the provision of free services by T Diagnostics and said that Rs 50,000 will be allocated to each ASHA worker for undergoing training as a health worker. He also said that salaries have been hiked for 27,000 workers in the state and that the government will pay their cell phone bills from July.

Telangana is leading the way by providing the highest salary of Rs 9,900 salary to ASHA workers in the country. He criticized the opposition for their baseless claims and divisive politics. He specifically mentioned the salary disparity between Telangana and states governed by the Congress and the BJP.

While Telangana offers a competitive salary package, states like Gujarat and those under the Congress and the BJP provide only Rs 4,500 to ASHA workers, he said.

Harish said that the government is actively working to fulfil the demand for second ANMs and added that the state offers an additional salary of Rs 27,000 for second ANMs, surpassing the remuneration provided in Congress and BJP-governed states.

He assured that the recruitment of ANMs would prioritize those in need, emphasizing the government’s commitment to healthcare workers.

Highlighting the success of the Basti Dawakhana initiative, he said that there was a significant reduction in the OP burden at the Osmania General Hospital (60%) and Gandhi Hospital (56% in general and 72% in the fever hospital).

He announced plans to establish three new hospitals for pregnant women and the opening of a super speciality MCH (Maternal and Child Health) clinic at the Gandhi Hospital within a week.

Harish also mentioned the construction of four new hospitals and the modernization of the Osmania General Hospital once the court case ends.

He commended the availability of robotic machines at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and expressed his gratitude for the services of NIMS doctors.
