Harish slams Congress over MLC poll corruption

Must read

Former Minister Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, alleging large-scale corruption in the Mahbubnagar local body MLC elections.
He claimed that Congress candidate Jeevan Reddy had spent a staggering Rs 90 crore to campaign during the election with MPTCs and ZPTCs allegedly receiving bribes ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh for their votes.
These shocking details, he said, were not mere allegations from the opposition but were revealed by senior Congress leader and Telangana State Planning Commission Vice Chairman Chinna Reddy during his recent statement in Vanaparthi.
Harish asked why Central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the CBI, the Income Tax (IT) Department and the Election Commission had not taken action despite such blatant election malpractice.
He pointed out that when ED conducted raids on Minister Ponguleti’s residence, no notices were issued against him. But in this case, there is complete inaction. “Why is there no suo-motu action? Why are cases not being filed?” he asked.
Targeting the Congress leadership, Harish questioned Rahul Gandhi’s silence on the issue. “Rahul constantly speaks about the Constitution, but is this what Congress means by public governance and constitutional protection? Does he endorse such corruption?” he said.
He linked the matter to the alleged ‘nexus’ between the Congress and the BJP, stating that this was yet another example of their covert deals.
“What more proof is needed to expose the ties between the so-called big brother and little brother?” Harish said.
