Health Minister Harish Rao extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed 1,061 Assistant Professors who would serve in teaching hospitals and said that Telangana will now be noted for its transparent appointment process.
Harish also said that 969 Assistant Civil Surgeons will be appointed. He also announced that online recruitment tests would be held to appoint 5,204 nurses.
The Minister hailed the efforts of Chief Minister KCR to establish many medical colleges and hospitals to strengthen healthcare in the state. This visionary approach has led to the appointment of doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff in these institutions.
Harish hailed Chief Minister KCR for regularising 1,331 contract employees working in seven departments in the medical sector. This development benefits Multi-Purpose Health Assistants, Lab Technicians, Paramedical Ophthalmic Officers and doctors from the Ayush Department.
He emphasised that the move signals the government’s dedication to providing stability and support to its healthcare professionals.
Highlighting the government’s relentless efforts, Harish revealed that in the last nine years, 22,263 posts have been filled in the health department alone, and the process to fill another 9,222 posts is going on and is expected to conclude in the next two to three months.
After the formation of Telangana, the government initiated the process for filling 31,484 posts, reflecting its commitment to providing ample jobs.
Responding to criticism on job creation, Harish said that those who claim jobs are not being created are simply not recognising the government’s efforts.
He emphasized the significance of doctors in healing patients, stating that while medicines cure diseases only doctors have the ability to restore patients to full health.
The Minister emphasised the importance of treating patients gentlemanly, by saying that a kind word can go a long way in the healing process.
Harish also announced the allocation of doctors to remote medical colleges like Mahbubabad, Nagar Kurnool and Jayashankar Bhupalapalli to improve healthcare services in those areas.
He hoped that Telangana would bag the first rank in NITI Aayog rankings and urged everyone to work to achieve this goal.
Harish also said that while Telangana had only 20 medical colleges (public and private) before 2014, the number has now increased to 55. He said that the establishment of 35 medical colleges in the last nine years provides a compelling response to those questioning the state’s progress.
The number of MBBS seats has also increased substantially from 2,950 in 2014 to 8,340, he said.
The increase in Telangana’s MBBS seats stands at an impressive 124 per cent. Similarly, in PG seats, Telangana’s increase of 111 per cent surpasses the national growth rate of 68 per cent, he said.
Harish highlighted the recent amendment reserving 85 per cent of B-category seats for Telangana students, providing 1,071 additional MBBS seats in private medical colleges to local students.
