In a relief to BRS Working President KT Rama Rao, the Telangana High Court on Monday quashed two criminal cases filed against him — one over allegations involving the Musi project fund diversion and another over drone use at the Medigadda Barrage.
The first FIR, filed at the Utnur police station in Adilabad district, was based on a complaint by Congress leader Suguna, who claimed KTR’s remarks accusing the Congress of diverting Rs 25,000 crore in the name of the Musi project had damaged her party’s image.
The FIR was registered on September 30 last year. However, after hearing arguments from both sides, the High Court ruled in favour of KTR and quashed the case, granting him relief.
In another case, the High Court also dismissed the FIR registered at Mahadevpur Police Station, where KTR was accused of flying a drone over the Medigadda Barrage without permission.
The complaint was filed by an irrigation official who claimed the act posed a threat to the dam’s safety. KTR’s counsel, advocate TV Ramana Rao, argued that the barrage was not a restricted area and alleged that the case was politically motivated.
The prosecution countered that drone flying near such structures could endanger public infrastructure. The High Court, after hearing both arguments, quashed the FIR.
