In a setback to senior IPS officer and former chief of Intelligence AB Venkateswara Rao, the AP High Court on Tuesday rejected his plea seeking contempt of court proceedings against AP Chief Secretary (CS) Dr Sameer Sharma. To this extent, the High Court rejected the petition filed by ABV to register a contempt of court case against the CS.
It may be recalled that the ruling YSRC government suspended AB Venkateswara Rao on charges of irregularities in the purchase of surveillance equipment during the TDP regime. ABV, who started a legal battle after the two-year suspension imposed on it, approached the Supreme Court and won. The Supreme Court has issued orders to reinstate ABV immediately and to give him salary allowances after the expiry of the period of suspension.
In this regard, ABV went to the Secretariat several times to meet Chief Secretary Dr. Sameer Sharma seeking implementation of the court orders. But the CS did not react much.
