The Telangana High Court asked the Hyderabad police to reveal how they will protect one crore people when they are not in a position to provide security to 1,000 people.

The High Court also asked the police to explain whether there wouldn’t be law and order disturbances when the State government organises dharnas against the Centre.

Didn’t the police remember law and order when the State government staged dharnas against the Centre?, the High Court asked.

The High Court pulled up the police for refusing permission for the BJP’s proposed dharna at the Indira Park Dharna Chowk on Tuesday, that is, July 25 on the double-bedroom house issue.

The High Court criticised the police counsel for denying permission to the BJP’s dharna at Indira Park stating that traffic and law and order problems will arise if the BJP organises a dharna with 1,000 people as work on a fly-over is going on in the area. Expressing dissatisfaction over the State government’s explanation, the High Court asked the police to explain why they are not giving permission to the BJP’s dharna.

However, the Court gave conditional permission to the BJP’s proposed dharna. The Court directed the BJP to organise a dharna with only 500 people and to give a written assurance to the police regarding this. The Court also directed the BJP not to organise any rallies and to give the details of leaders attending the meeting before the dharna. The Court directed the Hyderabad CP to give permission to the BJP’s dharna.

Justice CV Bhaskar Reddy’s bench dealt with the petition when Telangana BJP General Secretary D. Pradeep Kumar filed a lunch motion petition. In his petition, Pradeep Kumar said that the police did not give permission when the BJP approached the police seeking permission for its dharna on July 14 or July 20.

He appealed to the Court to give permission to the BJP’s dharna at Indira Park from 10 am to 5 pm demanding that the state government should allocate completed double-bedroom houses to those eligible.
