HCU protest mishandled, TG’s image spoiled: KCR

BRS supremo K. Chandrasekhar Rao criticised the Congress-led Telangana Government for mishandling the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) issue, stating that its actions had not only offended students but had also damaged the state’s image across the country.
He hailed the students for their peaceful protests and praised the BRS workers who supported the students.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting at his Erravelli residence with key BRS leaders from the erstwhile Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda and Khammam districts on Saturday, KCR said that HCU was established as a result of the Telangana Movement and it draws students from all over India.
“Such a prestigious institution must be treated with dignity. When those in power act recklessly, they are answerable to courts, civil society and the student community,” he said.

KCR warned that the arrogance of the Congress admin is damaging Telangana’s hard-earned image.
“We built Telangana with care and patience. But today, due to immature decisions, even our educational institutions are facing unnecessary controversy,” he said.
Referring to the deteriorating governance quality under the Congress, KCR said that people have realised what they lost in the last one-and-a-half years.

“They now know what water and power meant under BRS rule. Today, tanks are dry, borewells are empty, and crops are left for cattle fodder,” he said.

He accused the Congress government of administrative collapse, with panchayats unable to pay sanitation workers, tractors lying idle due to diesel shortage, and basic civic maintenance falling apart. “Even a sarpanch tries to win public acclaim after taking office. This government hasn’t managed a single decision that has earned public approval,” he said.

KCR also asked why the state was facing a power crisis despite having 20,000 MW capacity created during BRS rule and an additional 2,400 MW added post-elections. “This isn’t a power problem. It’s a failure of will and governance,” he said.

On the political front, KCR accused the Congress of attempting to erase BRS’s decade-long legacy and divert public attention through blame games. “The same people who once called Telangana a failed idea are now trying to paint our successful rule as flawed. But the people cannot be fooled,” he said.

He urged BRS activists to remain calm and not to get distracted. “The conspiracies to provoke the BRS will fail. People understand who’s with them,” he said.

KCR also reiterated that the BRS would begin a new phase of its organisational activities after the Silver Jubilee public meeting in Warangal on April 27.

He announced that membership drives would begin across the state, followed by the formation of committees at the village level and training sessions at district party offices.

“Let every village hoist the BRS flag before leaving for the Sabha. Let the public see our strength,” he said.
