A special protection force head constable, sustained serious injury when a firearm he was carrying reportedly got misfired at Mint Compound and died while being treated at a hospital on Thursday morning.
He was on sentry duty at the security printing press located in Mint Compound. According to preliminary reports, Ramaiah received a grievous injury when the gun he was cleaning misfired and the bullet pierced through his body.
Other policemen on duty rushed out after hearing the gunshot and found him in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead. Police are investigating the reasons behind the alleged misfire of the firearm.
