Minister for Agriculture, Marketing, Cooperation and Textiles Tummala Nageswara Rao has announced that the district headquarters government hospital would be upgraded to a 600-bed hospital. At present it is 450-bed hospital.
Accompanied by Collector Muzammeel Khan, Khammam Municipal Commission Abhishek Agastya, Nageswara Rao on Sunday inspected the government hospital. He went round the hospital and directed the hospital authorities to ensure sanitation both inside and on the premises of the hospital.
He asked the medical officers to remain accessible to patients and provide better medical treatment to them. He asked the hospital staff and authorities to behave courteously with the patients.
Measures are underway to recruit medical officers and staff in the hospital and assured the hospital authorities that there would be no shortage of hospital staff.
He enquired about the amenities being provided to inpatients and outpatients and the problems nestled in the hospital.
He asked the hospital authorities to improve the drainage system in front of mother and child welfare centre here. He insisted that the sanitation in the hospital should improve within a week.
He checked the attendance register of the hospital.
The State government has been paying special attention to the medical and health amenities and implementing measures to provide all kinds of amenities in the hospitals spending crores of rupees.
The medical officers should take measures to improve the reputation of the hospital among the patients.
