Health Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha has assured the students that all basic amenities would be provided in government medical colleges by the next academic year.
He, along with Minister for Excise, Culture and Tourism Jupalli Krishna Rao and Collector P Uday Kumar, visited the medical college under construction in Nagarkurnool.
He inspected the building and enquired from the engineering officials when the building is going to be ready. He also enquired from them the existing amenities and the amenities needed at the time of commencement of the academic year.
He directed the officials to take steps to build class rooms, hostels and provide basic amenities.
The Telangana State Medical Infrastructure Development Corporation officials and engineering officials should coordinate their efforts with the Collector and the Medical College Principal and complete provision of all the infrastructural amenities needed by the college, the Minister said.
Later, he interacted with students. Earlier, he inspected the district headquarters hospital. He asked the patients whether lunch was being provided to the them and inspected sanitary conditions in the hospital premises.
He visited the ICU Unit in emergency ward, NICU in children, general ward. The minister spoke with the patients and elicited information on the treatment being provided to them. He asked the hospital authorities to provide food to patients as  per the menu.
He felt that the hospital is very congested and maintained that he would consider providing funds for the hospital.
Further, he said that he would implement an action plan to provide necessary man power to the trauma theatre here and to release funds to the trauma division.
The College principal told the Minister that the hospital is not able to provide effective ICU services for want of experienced skilled technicians. The Minister directed the Collector to take steps to fill the gaps.
Local legislator K Sekhar Reddy, Atchampet MLA Vamsi Krishna, Kalwakurthy MLA Kasireddy Narayana Reddy, ZP chairman Santa Kumari, college principal Rama Devi and other elected people’s representatives were present.
