A cyclonic circulation is currently positioned over Rayalaseema, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, according to the Meteorological Centre.
In its daily weather report, the Centre mentioned that a trough extends from south Chhattisgarh to the Comorin area, passing over the cyclonic circulation above Rayalaseema and adjoining north Tamil Nadu at 1.5 km above mean sea level.
Furthermore, the Southwest Monsoon is expected to advance into the South Andaman Sea, parts of the Southeast Bay of Bengal, and the Nicobar Islands around May 19. As a result, heavy to very heavy rain is likely at isolated places in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema over the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms with lightning and strong gusty winds of 40-50 km/h or 30-40 km/h are anticipated at isolated locations in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema over the next five days.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at many places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema over the next seven days. Rainfall was recorded at numerous locations across Coastal Andhra Pradesh and a few spots in Rayalaseema over the past 24 hours.
The highest maximum temperature of 39.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in Kurnool, Rayalaseema. Meanwhile, normal life was disrupted in Vijayawada and Tirupati due to morning rain. However, the rain, accompanied by breezes, provided relief from the scorching heat.
