‘Heinous act of terror’

Vijayawada: Governor of Andhra Pradesh S Abdul Nazeer has expressed anguish and profound grief on the loss of innocent lives in the gruesome attack by terrorists on tourists in Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir on Tuesday. Abdul Nazeer offered his heartfelt condolences to the family members of JS Chandramouli from Visakhapatnam and Madhusudan Rao from Nellore, who lost their lives in the attack. The Governor has condemned the dastardly attack on tourists and said that such senseless acts of violence have no place in our society and the perpetrators should be dealt with stringent punishment.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed his support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the wake of the attack. He also conveyed his deep sorrow over the loss of two Telugu individuals in the attack. The CM condemned the “heinous act” of terrorism, emphasising that violence achieves nothing. He called for strong and decisive action against those responsible. Taking to ‘X’, the CM wrote, “Mourning the tragic loss of JS Chandramouli Garu and Madhusudhan Garu, members of our Telugu community, who lost their lives in yesterday’s terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families during this time of profound grief, and I pray they find the strength to endure this immense loss.”

He further added, “Acts of terror are a stain on society. History shows that terrorism and violence have never achieved anything meaningful for the causes they aim to promote. The Government of Andhra Pradesh stands in solidarity with the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi Ji, and the Union Government in their commitment to safeguarding our nation’s sovereignty and responding to terrorism with firm and decisive action. Those responsible for this heinous act must be dealt with severely.”

Meanwhile, IT Minister Nara Lokesh also expressed deep anguish and strongly condemned the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam. On ‘X’, he conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He asserted that this ‘dastardly act of violence must not go unpunished’ and expressed his confidence that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah will ‘teach an unforgettable lesson to the perpetrators of this heinous crime.’

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan tweeted: “The horrific Pahalgam attack has deeply shaken us. My heart goes out to the bereaved families. As a mark of respect & solidarity, Jana Sena will observe three days of mourning across the Telugu States. Our party flag will fly at half-mast.
“In this dark hour, we remain resolute; Our Bharat’s unity cannot be broken by terror. I have full faith that our leadership will respond with strength and purpose to ensure justice prevails and such atrocities never occur again. Together, we will overcome. Together, we will heal.”

YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed profound shock and grief over the tragic loss of two Andhra Pradesh residents in a brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The victims, Chandramouli from Visakhapatnam and Somishetti Madhusudan Rao from Kavali, were mercilessly killed by terrorists in a heinous act that targeted innocent tourists,” he said.

Jagan strongly condemned this barbaric attack, describing it as an inhuman and cowardly act that shakes the conscience of every citizen. He urged the Central government to extend immediate support and assistance to the bereaved families, ensuring they cannot bear this tragedy alone.

He conveyed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased, reaffirming his unwavering solidarity with them during this time of immense sorrow. “The YSRCP stands committed to advocating for justice and security for all citizens,” he said, emphasising the need for robust measures to prevent such atrocities in the future.
