Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand has called for the participation of at least 2 crore people in the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations across Andhra Pradesh on June 21. The main event at Ramakrishna Beach in Visakhapatnam is expected to draw 5 lakh participants and will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a video conference with officials on Monday, the Chief Secretary reviewed Yoga Day preparations, infrastructure projects, and sanitation in court complexes. He instructed collectors to ensure celebrations take place from urban areas to village panchayats and to promote yoga’s health benefits. Circulars and government orders will be issued on Tuesday.
Special Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) MT Krishnababu presented a detailed plan, noting Andhra Pradesh aims to surpass the 2023 Guinness World Record of 1.53 lakh participants set in Surat.
This year’s event follows the theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’, supported by the ‘YogaAndhra’ campaign from May 21 to June 21. The campaign includes training programmes and a curtain-raiser in every district.
