In a horrendous incident, a three-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by a man in M Kambaladinne village of Mylavaram mandal on Friday.
Police reported that a couple from Amruthnagar, near Proddatur, had gone to Kambaladinne village to attend a relative’s marriage. The deceased girl had gone out of the function hall to play with other children. Sometime later, her parents discovered she was missing.
The parents, along with their relatives, searched the entire area and found her body behind thorny bushes. The police registered a case and shifted the body to the Government General Hospital (GGH) for postmortem. It is understood that villagers apprehended the alleged perpetrator and handed him over to the police.
Poignant scenes were witnessed at the village, with grieving parents and relatives inconsolable. Villagers informed the police that they had seen a man taking the girl to the outskirts of the village.
