Google has chosen Hyderabad to establish its prestigious Google Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC), making it the second such centre in the Asia-Pacific region and the fifth in the world.
The Telangana Government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, announced the landmark partnership on Wednesday, marking
a significant milestone for the city and state. GSEC Hyderabad is poised to become a critical global cybersecurity hub, focusing on advanced research, AI-driven solutions, and online safety products tailored to India’s unique digital landscape.

This facility will foster skill development, create thousands of jobs, and enhance the country’s cybersecurity capabilities, cementing Hyderabad’s reputation as a global IT powerhouse.

The Telangana Government’s efforts to secure this investment paid off following Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and IT Minister Sridhar Babu’s strategic visit to Google’s global headquarters in the United States in August. Their vision and commitment convinced Google to establish this state-of-the-art facility in Hyderabad, ignoring intense competition from other states.

“This partnership is a testament to Hyderabad’s standing as a global IT hub and our state’s vision for technological and economic growth,” said Revanth Reddy, adding, “Telangana has always been at the forefront of innovation, and the GSEC will help us address global cybersecurity challenges from right here in Hyderabad,” the CM added.

Google’s Chief Information Officer, Royal Hansen, shared his enthusiasm. “Hyderabad is ideally positioned to become the global capital for safety engineering. With this partnership, we can create a robust framework for tackling global cybersecurity challenges.”

The GSEC will bring together world-class safety engineers, policy experts and academic collaborators to develop solutions for digital safety. It aligns with Telangana’s broader goals of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy and a leader in digital innovation. The Centre will also integrate Telangana’s T-Fiber, providing secure digital infrastructure to rural homes,
