In an effort to promote active mobility and recognise the sustainable work of postal employees, the Happy Hyderabad Cycling Group and Cycling Community of Hyderabad is set to organise a special gathering on World Bicycle Day. The event aims to appreciate and acknowledge the contribution of postmen and women who use bicycles for their daily deliveries, while also providing a platform to address their road safety concerns.

The gathering will take place at the Head Post Office near Osmania University on June 3 from 6 am to 7:30 am. The organisers said that Hyderabad has been making remarkable strides towards becoming a pioneer in active mobility, aiming to tackle urban problems such as pollution, traffic congestion and public health.

The cycling community has been actively involved in innovative initiatives to promote cycling and active transportation. Recognising the large number of postal department employees who still use bicycles for their deliveries, the idea to celebrate them on World Bicycle Day emerged as a fitting tribute.

The event aims to acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of postal employees who have chosen the sustainable and environmentally friendly mode of transportation for their work. It is set to provide an opportunity for the cyclist postmen and women to voice their concerns about road safety while carrying out their deliveries in Hyderabad.

The organisers anticipate that this event will set an example at the national and international levels, showcasing the Hyderabad Head Post Office as a prime example of an environmentally friendly workplace with postal workers in uniform utilising bicycles.
