Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has received 89 complaints on water bodies in permits of Outer Ring Road (ORR) in a Prajavani conducted on Monday.
The complainants reported on lakes in Ameenpur Municipality and asked for a full-scale survey to address encroachments.
Secondly Medchal District’s Medikunta Lake spanning 45 acres has shrunk due to systematic encroachments. Elderly residents submitted a petition urging for boundary demarcation and buffer zone development for public use.
Defense Colony, Malkajgiri residents accused a local public representative of encroaching on 1,000 square yards of land reserved for public amenities.
Anjaneya Nagar, Moosapet residents have said that the 2,000-square-yard park site has been encroached upon, with locals reporting threats and assaults when opposing the land grab. Despite government-sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for park development and a foundation stone being laid, encroachers have obstructed GHMC’s efforts to construct a boundary wall.
HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath emphasised the importance of preserving public spaces and warned that strict action, including demolitions, would be taken against illegal encroachments.
