‘HYDRAA is going ahead targeting bigwigs’

Must read

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), Commissioner AV Ranganath, said that big people are the main target of the HYDRAA. Hydra does not treat the poor the same way as the rich, he added.
We have received complaints about Owaisi College, Mallareddy College, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy College and other institutions, he said. If we demolish those structures thousands of students would be affected, he added.
“Not only demolition, our job is to retrieve the lake.  A workshop is going on to revive lakes in the city. If permission is granted in the FTL or buffer zone, permission will be revoked on the other side,” he said.
We have not crossed our limits. Even some of the areas outside the ORR also come under HYDRAA jurisdiction.
“Why are you people thinking that we are silent? Background works are going on for illegal constructions . At the right place and time we will do our duty,” Ranganath said.
“We are demolishing illegal buildings. ‘Invalid and illegal structures have no permission,” said the Commissioner.
If the poor have residences in the FTL and buffer zones, HYDRAA will not demolish those structures. When the Convention was demolished the adjacent huts were not removed, he said.
Ranganath said that some people are doing illegal business in FTL areas and buffer zones. When HYDRAA comes to demolish their structures they get tensed and use kerosene and petrol.

“We are giving them time to evacuate from the lake areas, then we are demolishing the structures. We are not going to demolish the houses of the poor and the middle class,” he said.

He said that people on social media should stop projecting HYDRAA as an enemy.

“HYDRAA is not an evil but an assurance for the future of the city and its people. There is no need to issue notices for demolishing buildings inside water bodies. But still, we are issuing notices to people and giving them time to evacuate,” he said.
