‘I am the perfect fit for villain roles’

Must read

Bollywood veteran Mithun Chakraborty’s son, Mimoh Chakraborty, is set to make his Telugu debut with Nenekkadunna. Airtel fame Sasha Chettri plays the female lead, while Madhav Kodada is making his directorial debut. Maruthi Shyam Prasad Reddy is producing the film, which is scheduled for release on Friday, February 28.
“My childhood was filled with South Indian movies. My father (Mithun Chakraborty) owns a hotel in Ooty and since I grew up there, I was exposed to a lot of Telugu and Tamil films,” said Mimoh, reminiscing about his connection to Southern cinema. He added that his father is happy about his Telugu debut. “He advised me not to worry about the language but to focus on my work with honesty,” he shared.
Speaking about the film, Mimoh said, “This is a female-oriented film. It has a strong message, but at the same time, it is a complete popcorn entertainer with songs, action sequences and engaging scenes.” He added that the story emphasises the importance of female journalists standing on their own feet.
Revealing how he landed the role, Mimoh explained, “The makers had already signed Sasha Chettri. When they were looking for an actor for my role, a friend of mine recommended me. Director Madhav Kodada then came to Mumbai and narrated the story to me, and that’s how I came on board. I felt this would be a great debut for me in Telugu cinema.”
When asked if he would be open to playing villainous roles, Mimoh responded enthusiastically. “Of course! I am waiting for villain roles. I feel I am a perfect fit for such characters. As an actor, I don’t want to limit myself. If I get good characters, I am open to comedy and supporting roles as well,” he said.
Mimoh also recalled watching Gopala Gopala, in which his father played a key role. “Now, he is acting in Prabhas’ Fauji. To the outside world, he is a superstar. But to me, he is my father. More than a father and son, we share a bond like friends,” he concluded.
