As the much-awaited film Kingdom gears up for release this Friday, Vijay Deverakonda is exuding calm confidence just a day before the big premiere. The actor, who has worked tirelessly on the film for the past two years, appeared cool and collected during the film’s media interaction, sharing insights into his journey, transformation, and emotional core of the story.

“I spent many sleepless nights in the last two years, but yesterday I slept well. I woke up in the morning, went to the gym, and then came straight to this media conference,” said Vijay, reflecting on how he’s finally relaxed ahead of the release.
He added that while the film’s success would be determined in a few hours, he firmly believes in the film’s quality. “While shooting for this film, for every scene, we always thought that we made a good film. The success will be in the hands of the audience,” he said in response to a question.
The actor underwent a major physical transformation for the film and spoke about the process with ease. “I actually enjoyed the process of transformation as I go regularly to the gym and get the right physique,” he said, adding that it wasn’t difficult or particularly challenging. “When Gowtam (director of the film) narrated the story, I cut my hair and sent the look to Gowtam. He initially didn’t want to do that, but I did it for the character. We shot a few scenes with normal hair and then I cut my hair,” he explained.
Beyond the physicality and action, Vijay emphasized that Kingdom is also deeply emotional. The story revolves around two brothers, and a recently released song capturing their bond has already struck a chord with audiences. “My brother (Anand Deverakonda) has listened to it many times and he gets emotional too,” Vijay shared.

Commenting on the response to pre-bookings, he said, “We are extremely satisfied with the film’s output and deeply moved by the phenomenal response we’re seeing in pre-bookings. Thanks to the unwavering support of Telugu audiences, we’re able to face the release with a calm confidence.”
Speaking further about the film, he praised director Gowtam Tinnanuri — the filmmaker behind Jersey — and highlighted the emotional gravity of Kingdom. “Every war in history has been fought for family, homeland, or love — and this one is no different. It is a story deeply rooted in family emotions. Within just two minutes of the film’s start, audiences will be pulled into the world we’ve created. It’s a film that promises a heartfelt experience for everyone who steps into the theatre,” he said.
Actress Bhagyashri Borse, who plays the female lead, spoke about her role as Madhu. “My character plays a crucial role in the story. I’m grateful to Gowtam sir for writing such a beautifully layered character. It was a joy working alongside Vijay, and I truly hope audiences love the film,” she said.
