The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad’s IIT-H Centre for Geospatial AI and Digital Twins (CGDT) and Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve shipbuilding using artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twin technologies.
This important partnership, also involving Neer Interactive Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Andhra Mahila Sabha (AMS) Arts and Science College, will use CGDT’s expertise to make maritime operations more efficient, secure and eco-friendly.
The collaboration aims to boost innovation in shipbuilding by improving vessel design, increasing shipyard safety, and introducing advanced 360-degree surveillance using Geospatial AI and object detection AI. With the help of generative AI and digital twins, the project hopes to raise the standards of shipbuilding in India to a global level.
IIT-Hyderabad Director, Prof. BS Murty said that CGDT-IIT Hyderabad, along with Neer Interactive and AMS College, is building a complete Geospatial AI system focused on full-range maritime security. He added that this was the first project of its kind not just in India, but in all of Asia.
