The Real-Time Governance System (RTGS) implemented by the State government was praised by IIT Madras officials for its groundbreaking technological approach to public service. Prof V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, hailed the system’s integration into the public sector as an example of innovative thinking and technological excellence.
A team from IIT Madras recently visited the RTGS Central Command Control Centre located at the Secretariat, where they were briefed by Chief Minister’s Secretary Pradyumna and RTGS CEO K Dinesh Kumar. The officials elaborated on the system’s objectives, its impact on governance, and the services it offers to the public.
The RTGS, designed to monitor and respond to citizens’ requests in real-time, connects all government departments, ensuring a seamless flow of information and services. The system’s ability to track and address public grievances as they arise represents a significant leap in the State’s efforts to provide more responsive and efficient governance.
According to officials, the Chief Minister’s vision was to harness cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance public service delivery. RTGS uses AI, along with other advanced technologies, to oversee the implementation of various government schemes and ensure that citizens receive timely and effective services.
Professor Kamakoti commended the State government’s initiative, describing the RTGS platform as a trailblazer in integrating real-time governance within a governmental framework. He emphasised that IIT Madras is eager to collaborate with the RTGS team for future enhancements to the system.
“This is a remarkable step forward in using technology for public governance,” said Prof Kamakoti. “RTGS represents a new paradigm in how technology can transform government services and make them more accessible to citizens.”
