Former Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu stressed the importance of early cancer detection, noting that 2 lakh new cases are diagnosed and 1 lakh people die from the disease each year.
He appreciated the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation, KIMS-USHALAKSHMI, and Brahma Kumaris for setting a Guinness World Record for the Most Views of a Breast Cancer Awareness Lesson on YouTube in 24 hours. Venkaiah Naidu congratulated Dr Raghu Ram, a renowned surgeon and Padma Shri awardee, for empowering over 11,000 people within 24 hours on International Women’s Day at Brahma Kumaris World Headquarters and online.
Venkaiah Naidu also commended Dr Raghu Ram’s efforts in raising awareness about early breast cancer detection in the Telugu States through innovative initiatives, including a large-scale screening program across 4,000 villages. This has led to early detection and saved many lives.
Meanwhile, Rishi Nath, the Asia Pacific Adjudicator for Guinness World Records, appreciated Dr. Raghu Ram’s clear and engaging presentation.
On this occasion, Dr Raghu Ram dedicated the achievement to his late mother, Dr Ushalakshmi, a breast cancer survivor. He highlighted the need for awareness and screening to detect cancer early and save lives.
