India secured a silver medal in the women’s compound team event at the Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage 2, held in Shanghai on Saturday. The team, led by Vennam Jyothi Surekha of Andhra Pradesh, delivered a steady performance throughout the competition to reach the finals.

The Indian trio scored 222 points in the title match but fell short against Mexico, who claimed gold with 234. The Mexican team featured Andrea Becerra, Mariana Bernal and Adriana Ruiz, who outshot the Indian side with consistent accuracy in the final rounds.

Jyothi Surekha has been a key figure in India’s compound archery circuit and continues to feature prominently in international events. The result adds to India’s medal tally and boosts confidence ahead of the remaining stages of the World Cup series, including individual and mixed team competitions.

Jyothi later dedicated the medal to the Indian Armed Forces in a personal message.
