India’s DNA not secularism but fraternity: CH Vidyasagar Rao

Must read

Under the auspices of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Osmania University organised a seminar on Tuesday on the subject of Dictatorship, autocracy and dark days of Emergency at OU Arts College to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the imposition of Emergency in the country.
CH Vidyasagar Rao, the former governor of Maharashtra and an anti-emergency activist, said that on 25th June 1975, Indira Gandhi imposed emergency in this country with dictatorial tendencies, and those who agitated against the emergency were booked under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) and kept in jail for years. It is surprising to see the Congress, which imposed emergency and adopted dictatorial tendencies, is now talking about the Constitution. What was in India’s DNA was not secularism but brotherhood.
He also said that it is ironic to talk about the preservation of the Constitution, forgetting the constitutional amendments made by the Congress government during the tenure of Indira Gandhi, which fueled the imposition of emergency. They reminded that many countries like Indonesia consider India as an ancient cultural country and if they adopt the cultural traditions of India, due to some selfish politicians in our country, the country’s values will be degraded. When he was the Governor, he had made arrangements to commemorate September 17 officially so that the Government of India had gazetted it. The current students are aware of the many conspiracies going on in India and stand for the country.
